Austrian oil and gas company OMV has announced Emma Delaney as its incoming CEO and chair of the executive board, effective September. Delaney, a long-serving executive from BP, is poised to become the group's first female chief executive.
Delaney's appointment follows current CEO Alfred Stern's announcement that he would not stand for re-election when his contract concludes at the end of August. The Vienna-based group's supervisory board has recommended Delaney for an initial three-year term, with a potential extension.
Edith Hlawati, OMV's deputy chair, expressed confidence that Delaney's international experience will enhance OMV's global standing. Delaney previously led BP's customers and products division, overseeing retail operations and EV charging.
BP confirmed Delaney's intention to pursue a new opportunity and wished her well. Richard Harding will serve as acting EVP customers & products at BP starting April 13.
