Summary
- Ola Electric has spent ₹229 crore on developing electric three-wheelers.

- Ola's market share in electric scooters has fallen significantly to around 8%.
Ola Electric Mobility Ltd. has committed at least ₹229 crore to the development of electric three-wheelers, as disclosed in its fiscal 2026 annual report. The launch of this diversified product line, originally planned for between June 2025 and January 2026 for a passenger model, has been postponed.
The three-wheeler program is now slated for completion between March 2027 and March 2028. This delay occurs as Ola Electric seeks to expand beyond its core electric scooter business, where it has experienced a considerable loss of market share, now standing at around 8%.
The company's investment in the three-wheeler segment includes costs for vehicle design, engineering, testing, materials, services, and prototype tooling. Ola Electric also continues to develop battery cells, motorcycles, and hyperchargers, albeit with scaled-back plans for its cell plant capacity.
Recent financial disclosures indicate that Ola Electric sold just under 200,000 electric scooters in fiscal 2026, a decrease from the previous year. Revenue fell by approximately half to ₹2,253 crore, while losses narrowed to ₹1,833 crore.
