Nvidia's Dividend Jumps 25-Fold: A New Era?
14 Sep
Summary
- Nvidia's quarterly dividend increased 25-fold to $0.25 per share.
- The company plans to return 50% of free cash flow to shareholders.
- Free cash flow could reach $441 billion by fiscal 2029.

Nvidia has announced a substantial increase in its shareholder returns, marking a significant shift for the tech giant. In its fiscal second quarter of 2027, the company returned $26 billion to shareholders via share repurchases and dividends. A key highlight was a 25-fold increase in its quarterly dividend, now set at $0.25 per share.
This strategic move indicates Nvidia's intent to return a considerable portion of its rapidly growing free cash flow back to investors. The company's CFO stated plans to distribute 50% or more of free cash flow, net of strategic uses, through buybacks and dividends.
While share repurchases are expected to remain the primary method of return, the dividend outlook is also becoming more attractive. Nvidia generated $127 billion in trailing-12-month free cash flow. With Wall Street forecasting a sharp climb in free cash flow, reaching an estimated $441 billion by fiscal 2029, the dividend could see proportional growth.
This potential dividend growth could significantly enhance returns for shareholders. If the dividend payout remains proportional to free cash flow expansion, the quarterly dividend might rise approximately threefold to around $0.75 per quarter over the next three years. This would bring the annual yield on current share prices closer to 1%, nearing the S&P 500's yield.
