NSE IPO Debuts with Modest 2% Gain Amidst Mixed Listings
25 Sep
Summary
- NSE experienced a 2% rise on its debut day after its IPO.
- Several recent Indian IPOs, like Hyundai and LIC, faced losses.
- Exceptions like LG Electronics India and ICICI Prudential showed strong debuts.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) marked its IPO debut with a 2% increase, highlighting a trend of mixed performances among recent major Indian public offerings. This debut contrasts sharply with several other large IPOs that have faced considerable challenges post-listing.
Companies like Hyundai Motor India, which raised ₹27,870 crore, saw a 7.1% drop on their first day. Similarly, LIC experienced a 7.7% decline upon its debut in May 2022, and One97 Communications (Paytm) tumbled significantly by 27.2%. Even Tata Capital, despite raising ₹15,512 crore, managed only a marginal 1.3% gain.
However, the Indian IPO landscape is not entirely bleak. LG Electronics India demonstrated a robust start, surging 48.2% on its debut and maintaining its gains. ICICI Prudential Asset Management also performed well, remaining approximately 47% above its offer price since its listing in December 2025.
