Nscale, a UK-based artificial intelligence data center developer, has announced a substantial $2 billion funding round, bringing its valuation to $14.6 billion. This Series C funding was co-led by Norwegian energy firm Aker ASA and investment firm 8090 Industries, with strategic investments from tech giants such as Nvidia, Lenovo, and Nokia. The influx of capital underscores the rapid growth and potential within the AI sector.
Adding significant industry expertise to its leadership, Nscale has appointed three prominent business leaders to its board. These new directors include former Meta Platforms executives Sheryl Sandberg, previously Chief Operating Officer, and Nick Clegg, who formerly led Meta's policy operations. Susan Decker, a former Yahoo executive, also joins the board. These appointments are expected to bolster Nscale's strategic direction as it capitalizes on the AI boom.
Founded in early 2024, Nscale quickly emerged as a key player among "neo-cloud" operators, renting computing resources to AI developers. The company has ambitious plans to establish itself as a leading provider tailored for Europe, with planned major projects in the UK, Norway, and Portugal, though these are not yet operational. This recent funding follows substantial capital raises in 2025 and earlier this year, demonstrating rapid financial traction.
