4 Apr
Summary
- ZaRah offers holistic wellness services and economic opportunities.
- The space aims to keep wellness spending within the Northside community.
- Black Women's Wealth Alliance founded ZaRah to build economic agency.

A new wellness center, ZaRah, has opened in North Minneapolis, focusing on holistic health and economic empowerment for the community. Located at West Broadway and Emerson, ZaRah, which means 'to be ready and to flourish,' was founded by Kenya McKnight-Ahad, head of the Black Women's Wealth Alliance.
The center provides a variety of holistic services, including massage therapy, specialized hair care, and a Himalayan salt room designed to extract toxins. These services are offered by eight practitioners who integrate traditional African American, Chinese, and Ayurvedic practices with Western medicine.
ZaRah aims to redirect the estimated $25 million annually spent on holistic wellness outside the Northside back into the local economy. McKnight-Ahad's vision is to create a career and economic center that supports Black women in gaining ownership and long-term stability within the economy.
Established in 2023, ZaRah is the latest venture from the Black Women's Wealth Alliance, founded in 2014 to foster community-rooted leadership. A new cafe is slated to open soon in the building, further enhancing the center's offerings.
