Noida Accelerates Power Grid Expansion with 19 New Substations
31 Oct
Summary
- Noida to get 19 new 33/11 kV substations in 12-15 months
- Power demand peaks at 3,000 MW in summer, rising 10-20% annually
- Reliable power supply critical for Noida's 4.5 lakh consumers

In October 2025, Noida's power department is expediting the construction of 19 new 33/11 kV substations to address the city's growing electricity needs. The Noida Authority CEO, Lokesh M, recently met with officials to discuss land acquisition for the proposed substations, which were identified a couple of months ago after a survey of various sectors.
The new substations are part of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) scheme, which aims to enable efficient, secure, and automated management of the power system. The facilities are expected to be ready within 12 to 15 months from the date of land handover. This infrastructure ramp-up is crucial as Noida's power demand continues to rise, peaking at 3,000 MW in the summer and increasing by 10-20% every year. The city currently has around 4.5 lakh consumers, and a reliable power supply is critical for its economic growth.
Lokesh M has confirmed that the relevant departments have been instructed to expedite the process, as Noida generates the highest revenue in the state. The new substations will be closely monitored from Meerut and Lucknow to ensure a consistent and uninterrupted power supply for the city's residents and businesses.
