Nissan is embarking on a major resurgence in India, backed by a substantial investment of nearly $800 million. This financial commitment supports the development of new platforms and upcoming products. The company is preparing to launch three new models within the next twelve months: the Gravite, the Tekton, and a new seven-seater C-SUV. An additional $100 million has been allocated to the Magnite facelift and its left-hand-drive program, significantly boosting its export reach.
The Magnite is now exported to over 65 countries, becoming India's highest-exported passenger vehicle nameplate in December 2025. This export success is a cornerstone of Nissan's revitalized strategy. The company aims to expand its dealership network from 175 outlets to 230-250 by March 2027, with strong participation from existing dealers and new investors.
India is a critical global focus market for Nissan, anticipated to contribute substantially to future sales volumes. The Chennai manufacturing facility's operational priorities remain unchanged following a stake sale, continuing to serve both domestic and export markets. Platform sharing with alliance partner Renault is fundamental, ensuring economies of scale while maintaining unique brand identities through distinct design and styling.
The Gravite has seen an overwhelmingly positive reception, with production being ramped up to meet demand. Nissan is preparing for its first price revision after the initial 5,000 bookings. The Tekton, set to launch on July 9, 2026, will enter showrooms shortly after, drawing design inspiration from Nissan's flagship Patrol SUV. The Tekton will also be exported, adhering to Nissan's 'one car, one world' philosophy.
Nissan's strategy for India encompasses a strong domestic business, robust exports, and a Completely Built Unit (CBU) business, with the CBU strategy having restarted in FY25. While the Patrol remains an important global product, the immediate focus is on launching the Gravite, Tekton, and seven-seater C-SUV. The facelifted Magnite continues its strong market presence, supporting both domestic and export demand, and the Sunny remains a popular export model in African and West Asian markets.
