26 Mar
Summary
- Nigeria experiences heightened demand for its LNG cargoes.
- Middle East conflict creates new opportunities for Nigeria.
- Nigeria plans to expand LNG infrastructure and gas hubs.

Nigeria is experiencing a notable surge in buyer interest for its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargoes. This heightened demand is attributed to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has created strategic opportunities for the African nation owing to its geographical positioning and significant natural gas reserves.
Representing the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Executive Vice President Olalekan Ogunleye announced discussions are underway to add two new trains to the country's existing LNG plant. The company's ambitious vision includes constructing a 12 million ton per annum LNG facility and establishing gas-based industrial hubs. These initiatives aim to effectively leverage Nigeria's vast reserves, estimated at over 200 trillion cubic feet of gas.
