Brothers Bring Authentic Mexican Flavors to Hall of Fame

Brothers Angelo and Alex Gomez, seasoned chefs with roots in Colombia and extensive restaurant experience in the United States, are preparing to launch a new Mexican dining establishment named Azul Agave. The restaurant is slated to open its doors in the esteemed Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame building in Springfield by the end of August 2026. This venture aims to introduce a distinct Tex-Mex culinary experience to the area, complementing existing Italian and fine dining options.

The Gomez brothers, who currently manage Via Appia in Wilbraham and two Frontera Grill franchises, believe the Basketball Hall of Fame offers a prime location for a family-friendly restaurant. They are incorporating authentic family recipes, including some secret family traditions for fajitas and tacos, alongside a special margarita recipe. The pair are actively seeking a liquor license from the city, anticipating a busy summer opening.

This new establishment is expected to serve as a welcome addition to Springfield's downtown, drawing visitors from local attractions like MGM Springfield. The brothers feel that Mexican cuisine is currently in high demand and are eager to cater to the diverse clientele visiting the Hall of Fame, which attracts families from across the nation.
