In response to a recent fatal fire at a Dattagalli restobar, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) initiated a comprehensive crackdown on rooftop establishments. The tragedy, which claimed two lives, highlighted significant lapses in safety and licensing enforcement, prompting widespread public concern and state government directives.
Across all nine MCC zones, 31 establishments underwent inspection on Friday. Officials scrutinized compliance with trade license conditions, fire safety protocols, sanitation standards, and building use regulations. This intensive drive resulted in nine establishments being ordered to cease operations immediately.
Furthermore, 16 businesses were issued notices for various violations. Three establishments were directed to implement fire safety measures promptly, while three others face closure proceedings due to non-compliance with fire safety regulations. The MCC has identified three more establishments for closure on Saturday.
Inspections revealed critical deficiencies, including inadequate fire safety infrastructure, poor ventilation, and unsafe cellar usage. The MCC Commissioner emphasized the ongoing nature of these inspections and warned of stringent actions against any establishments compromising public safety. All commercial ventures are urged to adhere strictly to licensing, fire safety, and sanitation requirements.
