The proposed bridge is set to be constructed at an elevation of nearly 12 metres above the ground.
Significant consideration is being given to how traffic from two flyovers will merge seamlessly at the junction. The BMC aims for a holistic solution addressing lane merging, signal timing, pedestrian access, and the impact on east-west traffic flow. Officials are striving to ensure adequate footpath space is maintained despite the new construction.
While initial proposals faced public opposition, the BMC now appears likely to avoid demolishing the existing Veer Savarkar flyover. The parallel structure is intended to maintain traffic continuity during construction. Ensuring ground-level access for emergency vehicles and defining new road lines beneath the flyovers are also key priorities.
