MRPL Denies Refinery Shutdown Rumors Amidst Supply Worries
7 Mar
Summary
- MRPL refutes social media reports of a partial facility shutdown.
- Operations are normal with adequate crude oil supply secured.
- Similar baseless rumors were also denied by IndianOil and the Petroleum Minister.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has issued a clear denial of social media speculation regarding a partial shutdown of its operations. The company clarified on Saturday that its facilities are functioning normally and that rumors of feedstock shortages due to Middle Eastern crude oil supplies being 'stuck in the Gulf' are factually incorrect.
MRPL stated that it has adequate crude oil quantities lined up to sustain its operations, which are proceeding as scheduled without any unit shutdowns. The company urged the public to note this denial to prevent the spread of market misinformation.
This clarification follows similar instances where Indian Oil Corporation rubbished reports of petrol and diesel shortages, terming them baseless and confirming normal functioning of supply networks. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri also reassured citizens on Friday that India has sufficient energy stocks and there is no cause for worry regarding energy consumers.
