Summary
- Mistral AI acquired Paris-based Koyeb to enhance its AI cloud infrastructure.
- Koyeb simplifies AI app deployment and manages backend infrastructure.
- The acquisition integrates Koyeb's team and technology into Mistral's engineering.

Mistral AI, recently valued at $13.8 billion, has completed its first acquisition by purchasing Koyeb, a Paris-based startup. Koyeb focuses on simplifying the deployment of AI applications and managing the underlying infrastructure.
This deal signifies Mistral AI's expansion beyond large language models into a comprehensive full-stack player. The acquisition is expected to accelerate the development of Mistral Compute, the company's AI cloud infrastructure service launched in June 2025.
Koyeb, founded in 2020, offered serverless solutions, allowing developers to deploy AI agents without managing server infrastructure. Its platform already supported models from Mistral and other providers.
As part of the acquisition, Koyeb's 13 employees and its three co-founders will join Mistral's engineering team. Their expertise will be crucial for Mistral's on-premises model deployment, GPU optimization, and scaling AI inference.
Koyeb's platform is anticipated to become a core component of Mistral Compute. This move aligns with Mistral's broader strategy, including a recent $1.4 billion investment in Swedish data centers.
Koyeb had previously raised $8.6 million. The acquisition aims to bolster sovereign AI infrastructure in Europe. Mistral AI has also recently achieved $400 million in annual recurring revenue, with Koyeb now focusing exclusively on enterprise clients.
