More than 13 miles of roads across Mecklenburg County are set to undergo resurfacing. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has awarded a $4.8 million contract to Charlotte-based Blythe Construction, Inc. to manage the extensive project.
The planned upgrades will affect several major routes, including sections of Statesville Road, Harris Boulevard West, and Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Other roads slated for improvements include Youngblood Road West, Shopton Road West, Nevada Boulevard, Mayes Road, Huntersville-Concord Road, and Mallard Creek Church Road.
Construction is anticipated to begin in early March and is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2027. To minimize disruption, the North Carolina Department of Transportation has stipulated that closures on most affected roads will be restricted to overnight hours. Special provisions are also in place to ensure lanes remain open during holidays and significant local events.
