Summary
- First production blast completed at the Kangankunde Rare Earths Project.
- Mining operations have officially commenced using owner-operator fleet.
- First production is on schedule for the fourth quarter of 2026.

Lindian Resources has achieved a significant milestone by completing the first production blast at its Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi. This event signifies the commencement of active mining operations, moving the company from a developer to a rare earth producer.
The initial blast successfully fragmented approximately 13,100 tonnes of material, including an estimated 5,500 tonnes of ore. Mining operations have now begun, utilizing Lindian's own Komatsu fleet to haul ore and establish run-of-mine stockpiles, which will support the upcoming process plant commissioning.
This strategic approach of building ore stockpiles before plant commissioning aims to de-risk the development pathway and ensure a smoother start-up. The project remains on schedule for first production in the fourth quarter of 2026.
High-level government representatives from Malawi attended the first blast event, underscoring strong national support. Executive Chairman Robert Martin also held productive discussions with the Minister of Mining regarding development momentum and maximizing economic benefits for Malawi.
