Maharashtra Beneficiaries Face Deadline to Verify Identity or Lose Aid
17 Nov
Summary
- Maharashtra government sets Nov. 18 deadline for e-KYC verification
- Over 26.34 lakh ineligible applicants, including men, receiving benefits
- Verification process introduced to confirm identities of enrolled beneficiaries

As of November 17, 2025, the Maharashtra government has set a final deadline of November 18 for beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana to complete the mandatory Aadhaar-based e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verification process. This last-minute reminder comes after government records revealed that over 26.34 lakh applicants, including a large number of men, had been wrongly registered and were receiving the monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,500 that they were not entitled to.
The verification exercise has been introduced to confirm the identities of those enrolled in the scheme. The administration has made it clear that the e-KYC requirement is now central to screening out such ineligible entries and ensuring the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries. Earlier in September, the Women and Child Development Minister had also urged the beneficiaries to complete the simple and easy e-KYC process at the earliest for the smooth future progress of the scheme.
With the November 18 deadline looming, the Maharashtra government is making a final push to get all the beneficiaries to comply with the e-KYC verification. Failure to do so will result in the termination of the monthly financial assistance, which is a critical lifeline for many underprivileged women in the state.
