Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Munde is resolutely enforcing food safety regulations, including issuing notices to actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff for alleged surrogate promotion of prohibited tobacco products. Munde stated that his department is implementing the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and its advertising regulations, warning that all law violators will face action.
The FDA is also expanding its pharmaceutical crackdown across the entire supply chain and plans to introduce a digital system within six months to a year to trace milk adulteration from the animal source. Munde stressed that strengthening institutions and public participation are crucial for lasting food safety improvements.
He indicated that around 20% of tested food samples were found unsafe or substandard, with nearly half of inspected establishments having major compliance deficiencies. Munde reiterated his commitment to his current role, stating his focus is on present responsibilities rather than politics.
