The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026 has successfully concluded, drawing an impressive 4.3 million visitors by Saturday night, exceeding its objectives. The event, which officially closed on Sunday, September 6, 2026, showcased over 2,000 local and international exhibitors.
Direct sales during the exhibition amounted to RM66.88 million. Furthermore, Memoranda of Understanding signed at MAHA 2026 are projected to attract RM10.3 billion in potential investments, signaling a substantial boost for the nation's agrifood industry.
Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu highlighted the event's success as a new springboard for agricultural transformation. He emphasized the need for swift action on all agreements and ideas generated to benefit farmers and consumers. Notably, Malaysia reduced its agrifood trade deficit by 13.8% in 2025, a trend that continued into early 2026 with a further 26.4% shrinkage by May.
This significant improvement in the trade balance, driven by an 8.1% surge in exports and a 1.1% drop in imports, was further bolstered by a threefold increase in pineapple exports compared to three years prior. Minister Mohamad appealed for increased budget allocation to sustain this momentum and reiterated his vision for MAHA to remain Southeast Asia's premier agrifood innovation hub, encouraging youth participation in farming.
