4 Feb
Summary
- Lumen projects free cash flow exceeding $1.2 billion.
- Fourth-quarter adjusted profit surpassed analyst expectations.
- Significant deal wins bolster private connectivity fabric solutions.

Lumen Technologies anticipates its annual free cash flow to surpass Wall Street's projections, with figures expected to range between $1.2 billion and $1.4 billion. This optimistic forecast was announced following the company's unexpected adjusted profit of 23 cents per share in the fourth quarter, defying analysts' predictions of a 27-cent loss. Revenue for the quarter aligned with expectations at $3.04 billion.
The company's financial turnaround is significantly attributed to robust demand for its digital fiber connectivity solutions. During the fourth quarter alone, Lumen secured approximately $2.5 billion in deals for its private connectivity fabric solutions. CFO Chris Stansbury highlighted the increasing customer adoption of these digital networking products.
Furthermore, Lumen's strategic sale of its consumer fiber operations for $5.75 billion has substantially reduced its debt burden by over $4.8 billion. This deleveraging has improved the company's financial standing, with leverage now below four times. Lumen stated that it is no longer in a borrowing mode and expects to generate excess cash flow.
Lumen is actively focused on expanding its digital products while navigating the complexities of its legacy telecom services. The company's commitment to growing its digital fiber connectivity solutions signals a strategic shift towards future-oriented revenue streams, promising greater financial stability and growth.
