L&T Secures Major Middle East Energy Storage Deal
26 Aug
Summary
- L&T's renewables division won a major Middle East contract.
- Three battery energy storage projects total 6 GWh capacity.
- Projects will enhance grid stability and renewable integration.

Larsen & Toubro's renewables business has announced a major contract win in the Middle East. The agreement encompasses the development of three battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, collectively providing 6 gigawatt-hours of storage capacity. This significant order underscores the growing demand for advanced energy solutions in the region.
The scope of the contract includes not only the BESS installations but also crucial grid interconnections, pooling substations, and underground cabling. These projects are strategically designed to enhance the stability of the regional power grid. Furthermore, they will play a vital role in integrating a higher volume of renewable energy into the existing power networks.
The battery systems will operate by storing surplus clean energy generated during off-peak hours. This stored energy will then be dispatched to meet demand during peak periods, optimizing energy utilization. The installations will feature advanced liquid-cooling technology, known for improving safety, increasing power density, and extending the operational lifespan of the energy storage systems.
