Domestic LPG Costs Unchanged Despite West Asia Tensions
1 May
Summary
- Domestic LPG prices remain stable for households.
- Commercial LPG rates have increased due to global oil prices.
- Petrol and diesel prices have not changed recently.

Household LPG prices have remained constant, with the standard 14.2-kg cylinder continuing to be priced at ₹913 in Delhi. This marks no alteration since the last revision on March 7, when prices saw a ₹60 increase. The stability for domestic consumers contrasts with rising global oil prices, which have surged by approximately 50% recently. This global price hike is attributed to energy supply chain disruptions stemming from the conflict in West Asia and issues in the Strait of Hormuz.
Commercial LPG rates have consequently been revised upwards. However, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has noted that these revisions apply to bulk and commercial cylinders, which constitute less than 1% of total consumption. Importantly, the prices for domestic LPG cylinders, used by nearly 33 crore consumers, remain unaffected. Furthermore, approximately 80% of petroleum products have experienced no price changes. Petrol and diesel prices also remain unchanged, with petrol at ₹94.72 per litre and diesel at ₹87.62 per litre in Delhi, following a ₹2 per litre cut in March of the previous year.
