Logitech Beats Profit Forecasts Amid Gaming Surge
28 Oct
Summary
- Logitech's Q2 profit exceeded expectations due to strong gaming and video collaboration sales.
- Sales climbed 3% to $1.22 billion, meeting analyst predictions.
- Supply chain disruption impact is now estimated at $70-$80 million, lower than initially feared.
Logitech International announced stronger-than-anticipated profits for its second fiscal quarter. The Swiss-U.S. company reported non-GAAP operating income of $231 million, surpassing previous forecasts. Sales saw a 3% rise, reaching $1.22 billion, which was in line with analyst expectations.
The growth was primarily fueled by the booming gaming sector and a significant increase in video collaboration products. Gaming gear sales escalated by 8%, bolstered by the introduction of 15 new products. Video collaboration equipment sales rose by 12% as businesses upgraded workspaces.
Logitech also managed to mitigate the impact of a forced factory closure at a key semiconductor supplier. Initially expected to cause $200 million in lost sales, the revised estimate for the disruption is now between $70 million and $80 million.
Looking ahead, Logitech projects sales between $1.36 billion and $1.43 billion for the third quarter. However, it anticipates a year-over-year decrease in non-GAAP operating income due to increased component and transportation costs, alongside the residual impact of the supplier's factory shutdown.
