Allen Media Group's Local Now has expanded its free, ad-supported streaming offerings with 111 new channels. These channels will broadcast local news coverage from Gray Media's stations across the United States. This move increases Local Now's total channel count to nearly 600, establishing it as a primary destination for free local news and television content nationwide.
The service boasts a presence in all 210 U.S. markets. It delivers localized news, weather, sports, and traffic, adapting content based on a user's device geolocation. Local Now features 223 proprietary channels alongside 370 channels from 28 traditional broadcast television groups.
This partnership follows Gray Media's acquisition of 10 local stations from Allen Media Group for $171 million last year. The expansion also aligns with Allen's vision of a free "super app" combining various media brands, including Local Now, with extensive movie and TV show libraries.
Local Now is accessible on popular platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Google TV, Xfinity, Vizio, Samsung TV Plus, and both Android and iOS mobile devices.
