Lionsgate Play Sells Asia Streaming to Founder

Lionsgate has divested its Lionsgate Play streaming platform in South and Southeast Asia. The buyer is Rohit Jain, who previously served as President of Lionsgate Play Asia and was instrumental in building the service over the past eight years. This transaction marks a significant shift, placing the streaming service under new, founder-led ownership with deep expertise in the Asian digital entertainment landscape.

Under a multiyear agreement, Lionsgate will license the Lionsgate Play brand name and provide continued access to its extensive film and television library. This ensures the platform can maintain its offering to a growing audience in one of the world's fastest-expanding digital entertainment markets. Lionsgate's other film and television operations in India and Southeast Asia will remain under the studio's control.

This move allows Lionsgate Play to focus on tailored growth strategies for the region. Rohit Jain expressed gratitude for the opportunity to build the business and transform Lionsgate Play into a premium streaming destination.
