Summary
- Lightstorm secured a $260 million debt facility for network infrastructure.
- The funds will expand subsea cables to Southeast Asia, Japan, and the US.
- India's data centre capacity shows significant room for infrastructure growth.

Lightstorm Telecom Connectivity Pvt. Ltd. has secured a significant ₹2,500 crore (approximately $260 million) long-term debt facility from IndusInd Bank. This funding is earmarked for expanding the company's data centre connectivity network.
The capital will be deployed to construct network infrastructure along India's southern corridor. Furthermore, it will support the expansion of Lightstorm's I-2SEA subsea cable system, extending its reach to Southeast Asia, Japan, and the United States.
The company, which began domestic operations in 2020, currently manages over 30,000 kilometers of terrestrial fiber and 21,000 kilometers of subsea fiber, connecting more than 100 data centers globally. The new debt facility signifies a strategic move to optimize its capital structure and invest aggressively ahead of anticipated artificial intelligence demand.
This expansion aligns with a broader trend of massive investment in India's data center sector, with significant global funding pouring into the country. Despite generating a substantial portion of global digital data, India's data center capacity remains relatively low, indicating considerable potential for future infrastructure development.
