Summary
- Layup Parts aims to simplify custom composite part ordering.
- The startup secured $42 million in Series A funding.
- CEO Eakin previously worked at Anduril and The Boring Company.

Zack Eakin, formerly of Anduril, has successfully raised $42 million in a Series A funding round for his composite parts company, Layup Parts. This brings the total funding to $51 million, following a $9 million seed round two years prior. The company's mission is to simplify the process of ordering custom parts made from carbon fiber or fiberglass, akin to an e-commerce experience.
Eakin, who has two decades of experience with composite materials, previously worked in motorsports and at Elon Musk's The Boring Company. He identified a gap in the market while at Anduril, noting that while other manufacturing sectors had streamlined prototyping, composites remained labor-intensive. Layup Parts has already reduced the lead time for producing custom parts from weeks to hours for clients in aerospace, defense, motorsports, and design studios.
The Series A round was led by Marlinspike, with participation from Cerberus Ventures and Pinegrove Venture Partners, alongside existing investors Founders Fund and LUX Capital. The substantial investment will be used to expand the company's workforce and move into a larger facility, further accelerating its goal of a one-click ordering solution for composite parts.
