Kutch Copper Ltd, part of Adani Enterprises, is set to integrate 115 megawatts of renewable energy into its operations. This initiative aims to reduce emissions and conserve water at its copper refinery located in Mundra, Gujarat.
The company is planning a significant expansion, aiming to increase its copper smelter capacity from 500,000 tonnes per annum to 1 million tonnes. This expansion would establish it as the world's largest single-location custom smelter.
In its sustainability report, Kutch Copper detailed its commitment to environmental, social, and governance principles. The company employs advanced environmental technologies, treating 99.8% of its sulphur emissions and operating on nearly 100% desalinated water with a zero-liquid-discharge approach.
This strategic development positions Kutch Copper to meet the rising global demand for copper, a critical component in clean energy technologies, electric vehicles, and power transmission infrastructure, contributing to India's carbon neutrality goals by 2070.
