KRBL Limited has reported a substantial 73% year-on-year increase in its profit after tax for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2027, reaching Rs. 261 crore. The company, renowned for its India Gate basmati rice brand, saw its total income slightly decrease to Rs. 1,560 crore from Rs. 1,617 crore in the same period last year, impacted by lower export revenues.
Despite the decrease in overall income, KRBL demonstrated remarkable profitability improvements. EBITDA rose by 65% to Rs. 372 crore, with EBITDA margins expanding to 23.8% from 13.9%. This enhanced profitability was significantly bolstered by a 14% year-on-year growth in domestic revenue, which amounted to Rs. 1,221 crore, excluding power revenue. The company also maintained its dominant market share across general trade (37%), modern trade (38%), and e-commerce (41%).
Looking ahead, KRBL is focused on strengthening its core basmati business while strategically expanding into adjacent food categories. The introduction of products like Poha and Biryani Masala aims to leverage its established brand and distribution capabilities. The company concluded the quarter with a robust financial position, holding Rs. 1,841 crore in cash and investments and operating with minimal debt.
