JSW Energy has revealed ambitious plans to expand its Salboni thermal power project in West Bengal. The company intends to double the plant's capacity to a significant 3,200 MW. This substantial undertaking represents an estimated total investment of approximately Rs 40,000 crore, positioning it as one of the most considerable private sector power investments in the state.
The initial phase of the Salboni project involves constructing a 1,600 MW ultra supercritical thermal power plant, for which environmental clearance has already been secured. This first stage alone represents an investment of about Rs 16,000 crore and is JSW Energy's largest greenfield power endeavor to date. The project is crucial for meeting West Bengal's escalating power demands.
