Stellantis has confirmed that a new Jeep SUV will be developed using Tata Motors' ARGOS platform, with an expected global debut in 2028. This collaboration marks a key phase in the Tata-Stellantis partnership. The upcoming SUV will be designed and produced in India, with plans to export it to over 50 countries worldwide.
The ARGOS platform, also known as All-Terrain Ready, Omni-Energy, and Geometry Scalable, offers significant versatility. It is engineered to support various body styles and multiple powertrain options, including petrol, hybrid, and electric, making it ideal for Jeep's global needs and its commitment to off-road performance. This platform is also expected to facilitate the inclusion of all-wheel-drive systems.
While sharing the platform with the Tata Sierra, the new Jeep SUV will feature distinct design elements, an exclusive interior, and unique suspension tuning. Jeep aims to ensure the vehicle possesses its own identity and driving character. Initial powertrain options may include Tata Motors' 1.5-litre TGDi petrol engine, with potential for an electric variant in the future. Production is slated for the Ranjangaon facility near Pune, serving both domestic and international markets.
