- The loader features artwork inspired by Walsh's late father's aircraft.
A unique JCB Teleskid loader, custom-built and inspired by a World War II fighter aircraft, is set to be auctioned starting November 10. This one-of-a-kind machine, dubbed the "Shooting Star," will raise funds for VetsAid, a nonprofit organization established by Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh. The proceeds will support veterans and their families across the United States.
The loader's distinctive livery was hand-painted by Jim McShea, known for his work with Monster Jam. The design pays homage to the aircraft flown by Walsh's father, who served in the military. This personal connection adds significant meaning to the auction, as VetsAid was founded partly to honor his father's legacy. Both Joe Walsh and JCB Chairman Lord Bamford have signed the machine, further enhancing its collectible status.
Beyond its artistic appeal, the "Shooting Star" is a fully operational JCB 3TS-8T. It boasts a 74-horsepower engine and JCB's telescopic boom, capable of lifting loads nearly 13 feet high and reaching over eight feet forward. The winning bidder will also receive VIP tickets to the next VetsAid concert on January 29, 2027, a signed crew shirt, and VIP access to a Monster Jam event during the 2027 season.
Since its inception in 2017, VetsAid has awarded over $5 million to veteran support organizations. JCB committed in 2025 to raise $1 million for the charity through special-edition machinery sales and fundraising initiatives. This auction represents an innovative approach, combining a unique piece of equipment with exclusive entertainment experiences to generate vital funding for veterans.
