Jasper County Clears Out Old Gear Via Online Auction
14 Dec
Summary
- Jasper County supervisors approved a second auction for old equipment.
- Two departments will sell surplus items, including a trailer and mower.
- Purple Wave handles marketing and outreach, charging buyers a fee.

Jasper County is set to conduct another auction for surplus equipment, having received approval from the Board of Supervisors on December 9th. This decision follows the successful disposal of unused secondary roads equipment earlier in the year. The initiative aims to clear out old machinery no longer in use by two key county departments.
The secondary roads department will be selling a belly dump trailer, while the maintenance department has listed a semi-trailer and a mower for auction. Proceeds from these sales will be directed back to the respective departments via two separate checks after the auction concludes. The supervisors unanimously approved the agreement, signaling confidence in the process.
This move leverages the services of Purple Wave, an auction company with over two decades of experience in equipment liquidation through no-reserve internet auctions. Notably, Purple Wave does not charge the county for its services, a significant advantage that contributed to the initial successful auction. The company manages all marketing and buyer outreach, with buyers responsible for item transportation.
