Summary
- Intel is investing €5 billion to expand its Irish manufacturing output.
- The investment aims to meet growing global demand for AI and high-performance computing.
- This expansion will upgrade facilities for Xeon 6 and next-gen Xeon processors.

Intel has launched a substantial €5 billion capital investment at its Irish campus located in Leixlip, outside Dublin. This strategic move, which commenced earlier this year, is designed to significantly expand the chipmaker's manufacturing output within Europe.
The expansion is specifically targeted at addressing the surging global demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) products. By maximizing capacity at its European manufacturing base, Intel aims to advance its research and development activities.
This investment will involve upgrading existing fabrication facilities and installing leading-edge manufacturing equipment. These upgrades are essential for the production of Intel Xeon 6 processors and future generations of Intel Xeon processors, built on the company's Intel 3 manufacturing process.
Naga Chandrasekaran, executive vice president of Intel Foundry, stated that this initiative not only increases output of critical products but also solidifies Ireland's standing at the forefront of global advanced manufacturing ecosystems. The investment further reinforces the region's importance in the worldwide technology landscape.
