InstaHelp's Losses Widen Amid Market Leadership Push
31 Jul
Summary
- InstaHelp's adjusted EBITDA loss per order decreased by 23%.
- The platform prioritizes market leadership over short-term profits.
- Intensified competition and aggressive discounting pressure margins.

InstaHelp, a quick home services platform operated by Urban Company, has widened its overall losses to Rs 132 crore in Q1 FY27, an increase from Rs 119 crore in the preceding quarter. The platform has prioritized gaining market leadership, even at the expense of near-term profitability, according to a shareholder letter.
Despite the rise in absolute losses, InstaHelp achieved a significant operational improvement, reducing its adjusted EBITDA loss per order by nearly 23% to Rs 346 from Rs 447 in Q4 FY26. This enhancement is attributed to increased network density as order volumes grew by 43% to 3.82 million fulfilled orders in Q1 FY27.
Revenue for the platform grew to Rs 11.22 crore from Rs 9 crore in Q4 FY26, with net transaction value (NTV) increasing 32% quarter-on-quarter to Rs 52.9 crore. However, the average order value declined to Rs 138 from Rs 150 in Q4 FY26 due to competitive pricing.
Urban Company anticipates that margins will continue to face pressure in the near future due to ongoing aggressive discounting across the market. The company views current pricing levels as unsustainable and suggests that a future pricing normalization could impact demand. The quick home services segment is experiencing heightened competition, with InstaHelp and Snabbit reporting similar order volumes in June 2026.
