Infinium Energy's Project Atlas, a planned facility in Texas, is poised to produce up to 100,000 metric tons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) per year. This initiative has secured crucial advance purchase commitments from prominent organizations including AVEVA, Bain & Company, Google, and McKinsey. These commitments are channeled through the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA).
SABA's procurement model focuses on supporting projects to reach their final investment decisions. This marks the first application of their strategy to drive new, scalable, and high-integrity SAF production. Infinium partnered with American Airlines for the physical delivery and logistics of the fuel.
The contracted volumes are anticipated to abate over 212,000 metric tons of CO2e. Aviation currently contributes about 2-3% to global greenhouse gas emissions, with limited SAF supply and a significant price premium over conventional jet fuel.
Infinium produces ultra-low carbon eSAF at commercial scale by utilizing waste CO₂ and renewable energy. This process converts captured carbon into drop-in aviation fuel, ensuring compatibility with current aircraft and infrastructure. The partnership with SABA members and American Airlines is vital for realizing this next-generation eSAF facility.
