New Airport Alert: Visakhapatnam Flights Move Aug 17

Beginning August 17, 2026, IndiGo will commence operations at the new Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport for all flights to and from Visakhapatnam. This new facility is situated roughly 48 kilometers away from the city center. Passengers traveling to the airport should prepare for a commute that could take between 70 and 100 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. IndiGo strongly recommends that all travelers factor this additional travel duration into their plans. The airline has assured that its teams will be readily available to support passengers throughout this relocation period. Separately, IndiGo recently introduced new flight services connecting Vijayawada with Varanasi and Kolkata, which have seen a positive passenger response. The news was shared in the presence of Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu and Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry.
