22 Mar
Summary
- Indian firms report shipment delays due to West Asia conflict.
- Raw material shortages and energy input constraints are emerging.
- CII notes India's resilience due to reforms and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The ongoing West Asia conflict is creating substantial disruptions for Indian companies, according to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Firms are facing shipment delays and shortages of critical raw materials, impacting sectors heavily dependent on international trade flows.
These disruptions are also affecting energy markets and supply chains, leading to constraints in essential inputs for manufacturing and other industries. CII's Director General, Chandrajit Banerjee, noted these emerging challenges.
However, CII highlighted that India is better positioned than in the past to withstand such external shocks. This resilience is attributed to structural reforms and the government's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, which has bolstered domestic capabilities.
The industry body also praised the government's swift and calibrated response, including efforts in crude oil diversification and currency stabilization. CII stressed the importance of investing in renewable energy and green technologies to mitigate future geopolitical energy risks.
