- The venture plans to establish a network of 4,000 stores across India within four years.
- It will offer a comprehensive range of seafood, chicken, and mutton through various retail formats.
A significant collaboration between Allana Group and Captain Fresh has led to the formation of Indian Retail Alliance Private Limited (IRAPL), a new entity poised to establish India's first at-scale, organized fresh protein retail ecosystem. Allana Group holds a 51% stake, while Captain Fresh owns 49%.
Captain Fresh will contribute its seafood supply chain expertise and omnichannel technology, branded as ChopServe. This is complemented by Allana Group's extensive experience in chicken, ready-to-cook products, and protein processing, building on a legacy since 1865.
The combined platform intends to merge product and supply chain leadership with retail entrepreneurship to professionalize India's fragmented protein sector. The venture plans to offer a wide selection of fresh proteins, including seafood, chicken, and mutton, across India.
IRAPL aims to become the organizing platform for India's burgeoning fresh protein retail sector, with an ambitious vision to build a network of 4,000 stores within the next four years. This scalable ecosystem will enable local operators to build profitable businesses using robust sourcing, technology, and retail execution support.
This initiative represents a strategic move to organize India's protein industry, addressing lessons learned from previous attempts to streamline the seafood market. By integrating Captain Fresh's global seafood knowledge with Allana's diverse protein offerings and empowering city-level entrepreneurs, IRAPL is designed for sustainable growth in the fresh protein retail landscape.
