21 Apr
Summary
- Campaign targets first-time investors to build confidence.
- Only 6 crore Indians invest in mutual funds out of 140 crore population.
- Mutual funds grow steadily amid Sebi's warnings on complex trading.

Nippon India Mutual Fund has initiated an investor awareness campaign called 'Har Ghar Investor.' This program is designed to encourage mutual fund investment among retail investors and cultivate disciplined financial habits.
The campaign's primary objective is to educate and instill confidence in individuals embarking on their investment journey. Initially, it focuses on ensuring at least one member in every Indian household participates in mutual fund investments.
The initiative addresses a significant gap between India's 140 crore population and its active mutual fund investors, which number just over 6 crore out of approximately 12 crore demat accounts.
This effort coincides with regulatory warnings from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) regarding complex financial instruments, particularly Futures and Options trading where over 90% of investors have incurred losses.
The campaign is active on digital platforms, featuring diverse individuals and offering explanatory videos to demystify mutual fund concepts for novices.
