India Launches First Indigenous Soluble Fertilizer Plant

India has achieved a significant milestone with the commissioning of its first indigenous water-soluble fertilizer pilot plant in Nagpur. This development is set to bolster the nation's capabilities in producing specialty and value-added fertilizers domestically.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC) spearheaded the project, with Anupam Agnihotri, Director of JNARDDC, inaugurating Phase I on December 23, 2025. Supported by JNARDDC-funded research, the pilot plant was completed nearly a month ahead of its projected schedule.
This green technology, developed by Ishita International with JNARDDC's support since April 2025, is designed to reduce India's dependence on imported soluble fertilizers. The facility is expected to be adopted by major Indian fertilizer companies, marking a crucial step toward national self-sufficiency in this strategic sector.
