Summary

- New mission consolidates schemes for streamlined export support.
The Indian government has approved the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) as a strategic initiative to bolster the nation's export performance. This mission is designed to generate employment, drive manufacturing and services growth, and integrate Indian businesses into global value chains more effectively.
Building on prior support mechanisms, the EPM will tackle critical areas including affordable trade finance, adherence to international export standards, coordinated branding, and improving market access. A key focus is reducing logistical hurdles for exporters in less connected regions, thereby fostering inclusive growth.
The mission operates through two sub-schemes, Niryat Protsahan for financial enablers and Niryat Disha for non-financial support. It prioritizes sectors such as textiles, leather, gems & jewellery, engineering goods, and marine products, with a clear emphasis on supporting MSMEs and new exporters to navigate evolving global trade conditions.
