5 Aug
Summary
- Dedicated freighters are gaining importance as India's exports diversify.
- Afcom Holdings reported a 143.9% revenue increase in FY26.
- Fleet expansion, including wide-body freighters, is planned by FY27.

India's export sector is witnessing a transformation, with electronics, pharmaceuticals, and engineering goods becoming more prominent, driving a need for advanced logistics solutions. While passenger aircraft bellies traditionally handle most air cargo, there's a growing demand for dedicated freighters to transport time-sensitive and specialized shipments.
Afcom Holdings, a dedicated cargo airline operator, is strategically positioned to meet this demand. The company's business model centers entirely on cargo operations, offering greater flexibility and control over scheduling and deployment compared to traditional airlines. This approach has led to substantial financial growth, with revenue more than doubling to Rs 587.7 crore in FY26.
The company's FY26 performance was marked by a 143.9% revenue increase and a significant expansion in EBITDA margins. Management attributes this success to higher aircraft utilization, a shift towards dry-lease operations, and increased charter activity. Afcom is further investing in its future by planning to induct wide-body Boeing 777 freighters by the last quarter of FY27, aiming to expand its long-haul capabilities.
Looking ahead, Afcom plans to operate a fleet of nine aircraft by the second half of calendar year 2027, including five Boeing 737s and four Boeing 777s. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance its revenue-generating potential and market reach. The company is also exploring strategic partnerships and developing its Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) business to complement its core cargo services.
