India's AI Infrastructure Boom Surges
5 Jun
Summary
- India's AI infrastructure companies see significant market value increase.
- Major tech firms are investing billions in Indian data centers.
- Industrial supply chain firms benefit from AI's physical infrastructure needs.

Indian equities are experiencing a unique AI investment theme focused on data center infrastructure rather than software or semiconductors. Companies supplying power, cooling, and cables for data centers have attracted considerable market attention. Sterlite Technologies Ltd. surged approximately 500% this year after securing a major supply contract. HFCL Ltd. climbed over 175%, and MTAR Technologies Ltd. more than tripled in value.
This AI capex trade is fueled by substantial cloud and data center investment plans. Amazon committed $12.7 billion through 2030, while Alphabet is developing a $15 billion AI infrastructure hub. Reliance Industries and AdaniConnex are also expanding local data center capabilities through significant partnerships and pacts.
Analysts suggest that the industrial supply chain, including builders and maintainers of these facilities, offers attractive exposure. However, investors must consider valuation risks, as some companies trade at significantly higher multiples than the broader market. Policy changes concerning Chinese equipment suppliers could also introduce market volatility.
