Indian Railways Adds Festival Special Trains Amidst Festive Rush

Indian Railways is bolstering its network with special train services to accommodate the increased travel demand during the Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath festivals. North Central Railway alone has announced 1,053 Trains on Demand (TOD) trips, spanning 13 railway zones from October 1 to November 30. The Solapur Division is separately introducing 102 festival special trips.
These additional services are designed to connect major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Patna, with routes extending to various destinations in South India. Many of these trains will operate on a weekly basis or on specific days throughout October and November, ensuring broader coverage.
Specific routes include multiple services from Mumbai to Chennai, Latur, and Kolhapur to Kalaburagi. Northern Railway has also introduced services connecting Delhi with cities in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan, such as Prayagraj, Kanpur, and Agra. South Central and Southern Railways are also contributing with specials to destinations like Kakinada Town, Nagercoil, and Santragachi, connecting regions from Kerala to West Bengal.
