Summary
- Two Indian LPG carriers safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
- India has secured additional LPG cargoes with sufficient fuel supplies.
- Domestic LPG production is being boosted to meet demand.

Two Indian-flagged LPG carriers, the Green Sanvi and Green Asha, have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz, with government sources confirming their safe passage. The vessels are anticipated to arrive at Indian ports by April 7 and April 9, respectively. In total, 16 Indian-flagged vessels are currently situated in the Hormuz region. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has assured the public that India has secured additional LPG cargoes, ensuring sufficient fuel supplies. This proactive measure addresses concerns over potential supply disruptions stemming from the ongoing geopolitical situation. Online LPG bookings have reached a record high of 97%, and smaller 5 kg cylinders remain adequately available, with average daily sales exceeding 90,000 units. The government is increasing gas supply to fertilizer plants and the city gas distribution sector. While LPG imports have seen a decline, the government is focusing on enhancing domestic production and managing commercial supplies to bridge the gap. Strategic reserves are also under consideration as crude oil and gas prices experience volatility.
