Summary
- India's installed wind capacity exceeds 54 gigawatts, on track for 10 GW annual growth.
- Suzlon targets Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, Middle East, and US for wind exports.
- Electrification and AI are driving a significant global increase in electricity demand.

India's installed wind capacity has now surpassed 54 gigawatts, signaling robust progress towards ambitious renewable energy goals. Executive Vice Chairman Girish Tanti anticipates India will cross the 10-gigawatt annual installation mark within the next two years, supported by manufacturing capabilities and increasing export demand. This growth is occurring amidst a global surge in renewable energy adoption, with nearly 92% of new energy installations worldwide coming from renewables in the past year.
The burgeoning demand for electricity, driven by electrification, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence, presents significant opportunities for renewable energy. Tanti highlighted a convergence of wind, solar, and battery storage technologies, making renewables an increasingly cost-effective energy source. Suzlon is actively pursuing an expanded export strategy, identifying Europe as a key market with the recent appointment of a dedicated CEO for the region. Southeast Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and the US are also strategic targets for its wind energy solutions.
