In June 2026, India's services sector exhibited strong performance, with eight out of nineteen sub-sectors achieving double-digit growth. This data, released on a trial basis by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI), uses a base year of 2024-25.
Except for air transport, which saw a six percent decrease, all other categories experienced positive annual growth. Notably, Real Estate, Retail Trade, and Wholesale Trade sectors reported substantial increases of 24.7 percent, 18.0 percent, and 15.1 percent, respectively. IT and Computer Related Services also showed impressive growth.
This experimental Index of Services Production (ISP) series, with its first trial release in April 2026, aims to evaluate data quality and gather user feedback. MoSPI's publication of provisional data for sectors like Railways and Banking will undergo annual revisions, contributing to a clearer understanding of economic trends.
