Summary
- V.O. Chidambaranar Port partners with Germany's H2Global.
- Focus on green hydrogen and clean shipping fuel trade.
- MoU explores feasibility of developing clean fuel auction mechanisms.

V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority in Thoothukudi has initiated a significant collaboration with Germany's H2Global, represented by the H2Global Foundation and Hintco GmbH. This partnership focuses on exploring cooperation in the development of green hydrogen and clean shipping fuel trade corridors.
The primary objective of the MoU is to investigate the feasibility of implementing a double auction mechanism or similar auction-based models for clean shipping fuels at the port. A key aspect will be assessing how port infrastructure can support the production and offtake of these clean fuels.
Cooperation will extend to evaluating infrastructure and logistics needs for the storage, handling, bunkering, transport, certification, market creation, safety, and export of green fuels like green ammonia and green methanol. This initiative is expected to foster stakeholder engagement and support the creation of a roadmap for clean fuel trade corridors.
The partnership aims to strengthen India's export ecosystem for green hydrogen derivatives, targeting markets in Germany and other European nations. This move signifies a stride towards integrating Indian ports into global green fuel supply chains.
