The India-France Economic Report 2026, released during the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, underscores the strategic depth of the bilateral economic partnership. Bilateral trade significantly increased, reaching approximately EUR 17 billion in 2024, representing a more than doubling over the past decade.
France is a major investor in India, with over EUR 12.8 billion in FDI stock. More than 700 French companies operate across India, collectively supporting over 450,000 direct jobs. Conversely, over 150 Indian companies have established a presence in France.
Cooperation is deepening across vital sectors like civil aviation, renewable energy, green hydrogen, digital technologies, AI, and advanced manufacturing. French businesses show a strong presence in states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, while India serves as a strategic R&D hub.
The report, prepared by IFCCI and its partners, reaffirms institutional alignment and shared ambition. Both nations are poised for continued growth, driven by innovation, sustainability, and industrial collaboration.
